Florence / Walk of Florentine landscapes
Running along the walk of Florentine landscapes, on foot, is like walking inside gold.
Leaving at half of the afternoon in a day with sunshine and tranquil air, you pass through the first pictorial hilly steets and arrive to taste the orange and tepid rays of sunset, in the infinite of Piazzale Michelangelo.
Crossroads of water, air, earth and light; enchanted place where to get oneself heated by the winter sun rays or to admire the incredible orange of May sunsets, the orange which presents itself suddenly like the leading actor and models the scene as he likes.
A walk which wants to feel the city must start from here, looking the infinite far reflected on the water of Arno and seeking the points where are attached the padlocks - symbol of a link between people and town which one would want to end never, and then the keys have rigorously to be thrown amid the wawes.
Narrow road on the climb which from the center leads to hill in few minutes; itinerary endowed with fascination, inspired among others Duprč, Galilei, Rosai, Pratesi, Ciaikovskij.
Running along the Costa from the beginning of Piazza S. Felicita one suddenly exits from the crowd and from the traffic and is projected in a bound dimension, where earth ends and sky starts.
Panorama unique for its vicinity of the center and for the shades harmony it offers turning the look from the city houses to the hills cypresses.
Here one touches with hand the cathedral dome, as it was the vault of heaven represented on the earth and at everyone disposal to be looked and felt. Here one feels one and the same with the designers builders of the city.
Contemporary art center, with specific opening times.
A world apart. Not town nor country, study-street which favours the concentration among stone walls, olive trees and sky; every now and then one meets a passer-by with whom he communicates without words.
At the middle a surprise: the small S. Leonardo church, unexpected color spot with flowered garden and gildings.
On the map a simple hilly wooded avenue, in reality exercise of architecture; of that architecture which wants to render the territory light.
Running along it by feet under the shadow of leaves (which singularly here appear more green than usual) the curves unroll wide as they were designed by the hill, and one notes sometimes the fixed presence of the dome - center of space.
It could be defined an urbanistic and landscaping ideal.
Someone searched for the point - maybe the only one point - where visual lines go from end to end of the hills, slide on the Arno wawes, climb to the tip of the dome and go around all the city streets.
One feels a world protagonist in this point; it is nothing but a point of the space and yet it makes us remember to be part of the planet and of the universe.
In this point someone built a square, open and luminous. Not an enclosure or a tower, but a city square.
This is school for every designer of every time. Unlosable at the golden sunset in a serene day.
After the cosmopolitism of Piazzale, the purification of S. Miniato.
One climbs some steps - they are few but seem infinite for the imaginary distance that we cover.
Noises and traffics of the town are only a far memory. Here reign static, spirit and eternity. The cathedral is now so little to seem a grain.
Wonderful in the afternoon, but attention at the gates closing.
